ANDI EIGENMANN SHARES TOUCHING STORY BEHIND HER ARM TATTOO

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of suicide.

Andi Eigenmann revealed the touching story behind the tattoo on her left arm.

The Siargao "Happy Islander" recently shared some snaps from her photoshoot for a fashion magazine as she put the spotlight on her ink that reads "Bumangon Muli" in Alibata. It's a variation of the common tattoo of a semicolon, which has become a symbol of suicide prevention and awareness.

"A little story about it—At the time I got it, I was at a low point in my life, I couldn't even imagine how or if I was ever going to rise again. Everything all seemed dark," Andi wrote in an Instagram post.

When all hope seemed lost, she thought of a tattoo idea that could serve as both a checkpoint and a reminder of how far she's come.

"I just wanted to have something to remind me that I could.. but somehow I did. I rose again, and I learned, I got better, I grew kinder, I started to love myself. and now I'm here... living that Marimar life, as they say," Andi said.

Andi seems to enjoy getting tattoos along with other members of the Eigenmann family.

"This is a scar that was self-inflicted when I was still a teenager. And of course, I regretted it and I went past that. That part of my life and realized that I wanted to get a tattoo just like the semicolon na universal tattoo siya for those who've already, who've survived suicide and I wanted it to be more personal so it's in Alibata. It says 'Bumangon Muli' in Baybayin because after all the times you fall down what you do is to get back up," Andi previously told local media in June 2020.

The Tragic Theater star is currently living in Siargao with fiancé Philmar Alipayo, their children Lilo and Koa as well as her daughter Ellie (with actor Jake Ejercito).

Andi clarified in 2017 that while she quit the "artista" life, she did not retire officially from the acting or showbiz scene.

Her last movie, however, is The Maid in London in 2018.
